Pita Chips!

Now that summer has {finally} come to Denmark, it is perfect to try new types of snacks when you are having friends over! Just this weekend, I tried this VERY simple recipe for Pita Chips. And trust me it is as easy as it sounds! Pita Chips – two words and you only need two ingredients. And did I mention it is a fairly cheap snack to make?!

All you need is:
Pita {whole wheat or just plain}
Marinade made from oil and spices.

For the marinade you need 2 tablespoon oil for 4 pitas and choose the spices you love the most! I try a mixture of basil, garlic pepper and salt and another with BBQ.

First you preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Mix a marinade by your design together in a bowl.

Then split each pita and cut them into pieces. Not too small as they will burn too quickly in the oven.

Put the chips in the bowl and mix with your marinade and transfer the chips to a baking sheet placed in one layer and bake for about 20 minutes. But watch they closely as they might quickly turn brown!

Serve your chips with dip or sour cream and enjoy a good time with friends or family!

Over and out!

Homemade Oreos {Oreo's}

I found this recipe and simply had to try it, as I am a BIG FAN of Oreos.. And this recipe comes very close to the ones you buy in stores. I was actually surprise by how good it was :) So if you are a BIG fan of Oreos too - or just love cocoa - you should definitely try this! And Yes - they taste even better with milk too!

Found on: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Oreos-with-Dutch-Cocoa-Powder

All you need is:

For the cookies:
160 g. soften butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract {vaniljesukker}
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

For the filling:
80 g. butter
2 tablespoon half and half {madlavningsfløde}
1 teaspoon vanilla extract {vaniljesukker}
pinch of salt
3 to 3 ½ cups of powdered sugar {flormelis}

First the cookies:

Mix sugar and butter well together in a bowl. Add egg and vanilla and mix into the bowl. Whisk flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder into another bowl and combine well before blending it gradually into the butter-sugar mix. Mix well until it all is combined. Divide the dough into two pieces and wrap it in and cool for 1 hour.

Second the filling:

Mix the butter, cream, vanilla and salt well until combined. Gradually add the powdered sugar until it reach a good consistent.

Preheat the oven at 180c. {350F}

Roll out on of the pieces of the dough and cut it with a cookie cutter. (You can use any form you like)
Bake the cookies for 12 min.

When the cookies are cooled, filled the cookies with buttercream and make the oreos. And you are ready for serving your very own made Oreos!
And what sounds better than going out and enjoy the good weather with a good company? Make your own picnic!

Enjoy!
